“July 1st 1916 was the first day of the battle of the Somme when
the British army suffered 60,000 casualties in one day. Four and
a half months later the campaign came to an incon clusive end.
The stark Somme battlefields , cemeteries and memorials will
forever bear witness to the huge loss of men, most of whom were
Australian, Canadian, Irish and New Zealand sites normally
Dartmoor Cemetery, Delville Wood, Devonshire Cemetery,
Lochnagar Crater, Newfoundland Park, Pozieres Ridge, the Sunken
Lane, Thiepval Memorial, Ulster Tower.
This tour provides the opportunity to tour the Somme from Ypres,
without changing location.
