A one day from Ypres exploring the battlefields of Mons
associated with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) 1914.

The first action of the First World War saw the BEF engage the
German army at Mons on 22nd August 1914. Thereafter they
entrenched themselves along the Mons-Conde canal until their
retreat on 24th August 1914.
We visit the sites where the first and last shots of the war
were fired. Nimy bridge where the first two VC’s were awarded,
Lt Dease and Pte Godley. Obourg station where the Middlesex held
the Germans at bay for a while.
St Symphorien Cemetery with the graves of Lt Dease VC, John
Parr, George Price and German private Neimeier.
Cost: 80 euros pp- min four persons (or 90 euros pp 2-3
persons). Travel: 8 seater air-conditioned minibus.
